About ANNE’S YOGA CLASSES

HATHA YOGA 

Tuesdays 9:15 am – 10:15 am (Denise Smith Dance Studio – click here)

An active class which includes meditation (mindfulness), asanas (physical postures), and pranayama (breath work) with the intention of bringing balance and harmony to body and mind. Elements of yoga philosophy are woven into the class for reflection and contemplation. Suitable for all levels; some yoga experience helpful but not necessary.

YIN YOGA  

Thursdays and Sundays 9:15 am – 10:15 am (Denise Smith Dance Studio – click here)

A passive class where the body releases into long-held poses (up to 5 minutes) with the intention of bringing stimulation to the connective tissues of the body through slow, steady, traction-like pressure. Pressurizing the tissues this way also helps to balance the flow of energy or “CHI” throughout the body. A highly meditative class with guided breath work. Suitable for all levels including those new to yoga and an excellent complement to more active styles of yoga.

YOGA-PILATES 

Wednesdays 9:45 am – 11:00 am (Nepean Creative Arts Centre – www.ottawa.ca)

An active class that blends dynamic movement, yoga poses, Pilates mat work, and core exercises with mindful awareness and breath attention. A well-rounded class for those who are looking for a fusion-style workout with a holistic approach. Suitable for all levels; sorry no drop-ins – registered class only.  Spring session runs Wed. Apr. 3 – Wed. Jun. 12, 2019, Barcode #1437190.

IMPORTANT INFO RE: YOGA-PILATES CLASS:

  • NCAC is still undergoing renovations. Our class has been moved to the Theatre Studio at Door #3, across the parking lot from the original room.
  • There are washrooms just outside the room. As I am unable to control the temperature in the room, bring an extra layer for your comfort.
  • Please give yourself extra time and arrive to class at least 15 minutes early if possible. You may store your personal items in our class room; cell phones on silent please.
  • Thank you for your patience and understanding during renovations!
